Summer will arrive Friday; that means folks will have the most daylight time. With students out for the summer, many families are taking vacations. Our community congratulates Davie High seniors upon their graduation Saturday.
As photos show, the V-Point Ruritans had an impressive tribute to “Old Glory” including a time of fellowship Saturday evening.
Upcoming community events: “Anointed in Grace” in concert at 11 a.m. followed by dinner Sunday, June 29 at Calvary Baptist Church; and Vacation Bible School in July at Clarksbury Methodist Church.
Our community extends sympathy to the family of Lorene Beck Wallace, who died Wednesday of last week at her home. One of six children; she was born in Iredell County in 1938 to the late David Luther and Nancy Steel Beck and was reared on Stroud Road off Vaughn Mill Road. A ’56 graduate of Harmony High School, she attended Pleasant View Baptist with her family. A service celebrating her life was held last Monday afternoon at South River Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated member; she was laid to rest in the church cemetery.
We extend sympathy to the family of Barbara Harris Evans, who died Thursday of last week at Mountain Valley SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkinville. She had been in declining health and living with her daughter Gail. She was born in Iredell in 1936 to the late Sherrill and Dolly Campbell Harris. She and husband Herman settled on Society Road near Garden Valley Road and reared their three children. A graveside service was held last Monday in the cemetery of Society Baptist, where she had been a longtime member; she was laid to rest beside Herman, who died July 2018.
Our community sends get-well wishes to Amelia Bailey and Roy Shoffner. Amelia fell on the monkey bars at school Tuesday of last week, broke her arm and wrist, had surgery, and is recuperating at home with her arm in a cast from her fingertips to her shoulder. Roy was transferred from the W.G. Hefner Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Salisbury to Forsyth Medical Center for surgery that was scheduled for last Monday. Baby Luke Wallace has improved and is enjoying being in his new home with family.
Join us in prayer for the Lord’s divine healing and blessings upon Amelia, Roy, baby Luke, and other residents who are having health issues. Pray for the Lord’s comfort and blessings upon the families of Lorene and Barbara as they miss their loved ones in life. Remember in prayer the family of Sylvia Warren Moore, who died June 6 at home; she was the wife of the late Johnie Moore and daughter-in-law of the late Will and Lottie Moore of County Line.
Our community news will again honor students who graduated, earned a certificate, or received an honor or award the past year. Call or text 336-492-5115 or email sdtlink@hotmail.com details and a photo if possible.
