If you travel I-40 late at night or early in the morning, take note of upcoming closings announced by the NC Department of Transportation.
And Pinebrook School Road will be closed while a bridge over the interstate is being replaced. It is scheduled to reopen in August, 2026. The only access to Pinebrook Elementary School during this time will be via Pinebrook Drive and Farmington Road.
Upcoming I-40 Nightly Closures in Davie County:
Between Farmington Road and NC 801, the eastbound side will close the nights of June 16 & 17; and the westbound side will close the nights of June 18, 19, & 20.
On Monday and Tuesday nights, June 16 and 17, crews will perform nightly closures of I-40 East from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. The purpose for the work is to begin removal of the overhead bridge structure at Pinebrook School Road. For the safety of the traveling public, motorists will not be allowed to drive underneath the bridge during the demolition work.
On Wednesday-Friday nights, June 18, 19, and 20, crews will perform nightly closures of I-40 West from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.
