Rebecca Elizabeth Brown Foust of Mocksville peacefully left our world on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born April 30, 1943, in Forsyth County, a daughter of the late Jones Thomas Brown and Margaret Crotts Brown.
Left to cherish her memory: her husband of 60 years, Bill Foust; her daughter, Beth Foust Councilman; her son, Barret Foust (Lisha); 2 grandsons, Clay Councilman, and Colton Foust; a sister, Joyce Brown Cary (Charles); and many other family members and dear friends.
Although Rebecca’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. She touched the lives of so many in her lifetime. Her memory will be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
“Becky Brown”met her beloved husband, Bill, when they were sophomore students at James A. Gray High School in Winston-Salem in 1959. They later married on May 22, 1965. They lived in various parts of North Carolina and South Carolina before retiring back to their roots and settling in Mocksville in 2001.
Rebecca was an artist, and her passion for creativity had no limits. She loved nature and gardening, and was very devoted to both reading and writing. She was an amazing poet. She enjoyed time in the kitchen and loved feeding family and friends. She adored setting a lovely table for her guests.Whether she had gardening gloves on her hands, or a paintbrush between her fingers, her thoughts were always creative ones. She could bring that creativity to life in such special ways. She treasured life’s smallest details. She discovered inner beauty in all things. She marveled at all of God’s creations.
She was Rebecca, Becky, Beck, Mom, Nana, and Aunt Becky. May her life story encourage and teach all those whose lives she touched. And may we carry forth her legacy of love, compassion, and perseverance.
The family will honor Rebecca’s life with a private service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in memory of Rebecca Foust at: Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
