As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance campus security, Davie County Schools will implement several new safety measures for the 2025 commencement ceremonies at Davie County High School and Davie County Early College High School.
That will include walking through a weapons detection system, as well as limits to what can be carried in.
Clear bags only will be allowed. Medically necessary bags will be permitted, but may be subject to inspection.
Guests will pass through weapons detectors upon entry. These systems are part of a district-wide effort to strengthen safety at schools, athletic and major events. To speed up security screening and ensure you can quickly clear the detectors, limit what you carry in. The systems have been phased in at each school since the start of the year.
To allow time for security screening, gates for graduation will open earlier than in previous years.
Early College will open at 8:30 a.m.
Davie County High School will open at 7 a.m.
“Davie County Schools appreciates the community’s cooperation and understanding as we implement these important safety enhancements,” said Jinda Haynes, interim superintendent. “We’re excited to celebrate the achievements of our graduating seniors, and we want everyone in attendance to feel safe and secure.”
Davie County Early College High School graduation will be at the Brock Auditorium on North Main Street in Mocksville on Friday, May 23 at 10 a.m.
Davie County High School graduation at War Eagle Stadium will be Saturday, June 14 at 8:30 a.m.
