Fred Lee McHan

Mr. Fred Lee McHan, 89, of Advance, NC passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025.
He was born Jan. 5, 1936 in Bryson City, NC to Emlis McHan and Emily Davis McHan. Mr. McHan was a veteran who served in the Army National Guard and retired from the N.C. Department of Agriculture as a Seed Specialist. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Moravian Church where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. He was a member of the Smith Grove Ruritan Club and loved sports such as golf, tennis and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening and was a talented musician and artist.
Mr. McHan was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Don, Beauford and George McHan.
Surviving: his wife of 62 years, Nancy Trivitte McHan; 2 daughters, Christa Miller (Scott) and Michelle Moore (Michael); 4 grandchildren, Ben Miller, Madi Miller, Kayla Moore and Colby Moore; a brother, Eugene McHan (Margaret); a brother-in-law, Harold Trivitte; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Macedonia Moravian Church. A funeral service followed at 2 p.m. with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Interment followed in the church graveyard.
