March and April have been busy for seniors at Davie County Senior Services.
Highlights from March include a day trip to the High Point Museum, the Intergenerational Walk and the annual Rock-a-thon fundraiser.
The High Point Museum trip was on March 4 and participants learned about the history of High Point and enjoyed a meal together.
On March 19, the Davie County Public Library and Senior Services joined for the Intergenerational Walk where participants enjoyed a nice walk and nature scavenger hunt together.
To close out March, Senior Services held the annual Rock-a-thon fundraiser that featured entertainment from Christina Raine as well as performances by the 2 p.m. Zumba Class instructed by Gladys Scott and the Boogie Brigade instructed by Julie Cartner.
Highlights from April include the Senior Prom as well as crafting classes and the Easter Party.
The Senior Prom was held on April 11 in the Brock Gym with the Mobile Jukebox as the DJ. Participants enjoyed “A Night in Hollywood.”
Crafting classes included a floral design class with Benita Finney and a basket weaving class with Cheryl Tilley.
Tara Harper led the quarterly Caring with Cards where the participants make cards for the Meals on Wheels clients.
The Easter Party featured Easter Trivia, Spring Pictures, and a special treat – live dwarf rabbits.
Upcoming events: Under the Sea party on May 2 featuring the Davie High School Musical Theatre’s cast of Disney’s the Little Mermaid; as well as the annual Mother Daughter Banquet on May 9.
There will be a presentation titled, “Questions to Ask When You Have Aging Parents,” on Thursday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m., open to adults of all ages.
