BERMUDA RUN – Welcome to Davie County.
And welcome to this town, which begins at the Forsyth County line on US 158 as the Kathryn Crosby Bridge crosses the Yadkin River.
Now, as motorists enter the roundabout headed west (which features a blue heron obelisk), they’ll see what Davie County is all about. Patriotism.
Thanks to the Bermuda Run Vision Fund Committee, a new flag plaza has been dedicated along the Blue Heron Trail just beyond the roundabout, between the road and Win-Mock Barn. It features flags of our country, state and county, a bench, and brick pavers, many engraved with names from residents who made donations.
A dedication ceremony was held last week, with Mayor Mike Brannon welcoming guests, Benita Finney singing the National Anthem, local veterans from the VFW and DAV conducting the flag-raising ceremony, and Advance and Smith Grove fire departments.
