Partners, the Davie County Community Housing Forum and the Davie County Mental Health Collaborative will present an interactive event designed to provide participants – such as community leaders, service providers and policymakers – with a realistic, immersive experience of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness.
“This event will take you through real-life scenarios, some with solutions and others that highlight gaps in our community’s support system,” said Karissa McDaniel, Partners housing specialist.
The goal is to increase awareness, foster empathy and encourage collaborative solutions for addressing homelessness in the community.
“We need participants to engage in the experience and contribute to a real analysis of homelessness in Davie County,” she said. “This is an opportunity to evaluate what’s working, where gaps exist, and whether we are duplicating efforts or missing critical resources. Join us in a discussion about how we can work together more effectively to build a stronger, more responsive system for those in need.
“We are also inviting individuals with lived experience of homelessness to share their stories in a safe and supportive environment. Your insights are invaluable in helping us create meaningful change,” she said.
The event will be at the Mocksville First United Methodist Church Life Center, 310 N. Main St., on Thursday, April 24, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Lunch will be served.
Register by April 1.
“If you provide homeless resources, we want to know so we can ensure your agency is represented at this event,” said McDaniel. Email McDaniel at KMcDaniel@partnersbhm.org with your name and agency and the resources you offer by April 1.
