Davie Medical Center nurse receives honor

BERMUDA RUN – Registered Nurse Addi Curran is Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center’s latest DAISY Award winner.
The award is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Davie Medical Center recognizes one of its nurses with this special honor twice a year. Each honoree receives, a certificate, DAISY Award pin and a hand carved “A Healer’s Touch” stone sculpture.
“After taking biology, I became interested in health sciences,” said Curran. “Then, having to be a patient in the hospital as a teenager inspired me to pursue nursing specifically. I enjoy helping my patients feel better just like my nurses helped me do the same.”
“Addi is passionate about providing quality and competent care in a kind an empathetic way,” said Karen Hagen, Curran’s manager. “She strives to be knowledgeable of disease process and will proactively seek out educational opportunities to grow in emergency nursing. She continuously seeks feedback and is open when it is provided to help her continue to grow in her role. Her enthusiasm is appreciated by her team, as well as her patients.”
