Mrs. Nancy Kay Burleson Bumgarner, 72, of Needmore Road, Woodleaf, died Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Davie Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mocksville.

She was born on May 5, 1951 in Stanly County to the late Marvin and Ruby Almond Burleson.

Kay was a very hard working woman and loved her family very much, especially her grandbabies, and always enjoyed watching them play ball. She enjoyed reading, wordsearches and crossword puzzles, and traveling to the beach. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: 2 siblings, Roger Burleson and Jackie Leonard; and a nephew, Michael Rescigno.

Survivors include: her husband of 54 years, Larry Bumgarner; 2 sons, Todd Bumgarner (Anna) of Mocksville and Jeff Bumgarner (Elaine) of Illinois; 4 grandchildren, Morgan Bumgarner, J.T. Bumgarner, Maggie Bumgarner, and Molly Bumgarner; 2 siblings, Jean Rescigno of South Carolina and Carol McClain (John) of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 6 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Blalock officiating. Interment will follow in Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
