Mrs. Mona Ruth Fleming Swicegood, 82, of Mocksville, died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem.

She was born May 25, 1940,in Davie County to the late Thomas Mitchel and Lillie Juanita Campbell Fleming. Mrs. Swicegood was a member of Turrentine Baptist Church. She was a strong Christian woman who loved the Lord. Mrs. Swicegood was retired from Davie County Schools. She cherished her 67-year marriage to her husband, and adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michaela Draughn.

Survivors include: her husband, Joe Harlan Swicegood; daughters, Regina Swicegood Allen and Sharon Swicegood Bryant; special son, Dwayne Swisher (Cindy), all of Mocksville; brother, Aubrey Fleming (Norma) of Alabama; grandchildren, Jesse Draughn (Autumn), Kaleigh Allen, and Brandi Swisher; a great-granddaughter, Billie Michaela Draughn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 5 at Turrentine Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Carlton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
