Mildred B. Benfield, 91, passed away Dec. 11, 2022.

She was born on April 23, 1931. She was preceded in death by: her husband of 69 years, Harold E. “Buck” Benfield, her parents, E.P. and Nettie Burdette; her brothers, Kenneth and Charles; a sister-in-law, Helen Burdette; and a grandson, Danny Stevenson.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church on Davie Academy Road.

She has left behind: 4 children, Alice Kral of Morganton, Johnny Benfield Sr. (Diane) of Mocksville, Susan Smith (Kenny) of Harmony, Cheryl Taylor (Johnny) of Mocksville; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Polly Burdette of Stoney Point; and several nieces and nephews.

On Sunday, Dec. 18, a memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist at 2 p.m. Rev. Frank Blankenship and Rev. Jack Barkley will officiate.
