The annual ‘Twas the Night Before Bed Race starts at 6 p.m. Friday in Downtown Mocksville.
Downtown streets will close to vehicles starting at 5.
The lights outlining the downtown buildings will be lit, and then the beds will begin to roll, piloted by local businesses and non-profits.
Presented by the Mocksville Tourism Authority, teams compete for $700 in cash prizes.
Each team consists – not only of a creative and decorated bed design – of four pushers and one rider, who must lie flat or sit in position as the bed rolls down Main Street.
Street closures begin at 5 p.m., and include North Main Street from Gaither Street to downtown, and South Main Street from the US 601/US 64 intersection near the Presbyterian Church to downtown. The town hall parking lot on Clement Street will be open.
