Bobby Muse Thompson, 90, of Mocksville, died on Oct. 10, 2021 in his home in Davie County.
He was born on March 15, 1931 in Cooleemee, son of the late James M. Thompson and Sadie (Bivins) Thompson. He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
He graduated from Cooleemee High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force in supply services, refueling aircrafts for 23 years, until he retired in 1974. He served in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Baker Furniture, Ingersoll Rand and The Bryan Center. He also volunteered his time at the Zachary House Museum and helping churches with projects. In December of 1954, he married the love of his life, Laverne Ann (Nancy) Thompson.They had two daughters. He led an active life and was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Cooleemee, American Legion, and the VFW. He enjoyed wood working and spending time with his family.
Survivors: his wife, Laverne Thompson of Mocksville; daughters, Debra Davis (Terry) of Mocksville, and Cheryl Bisson (James) of Harper, Texas; 2 grandsons; a granddaughter; and 2 great-granddaughters.
A graveside service was held on Friday, Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery.
