Carl Gibson Safley of Clemmons died on May 23, 2020.

He was born Sept. 4, 1937, son of the late Robert Lee Safley and Maime Lee (Campbell) Safley. He is also preceded in death by: his brothers, Clarence Safley and Roy Safley; and sister, Evelyn Ferebee.

He attended Davie County Schools. Before graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his country, where he earned his GED. He married the love of his life, Nancy, in 1956. He worked with Tanglewood Park for 33 years, retiring as supervisor of buildings and grounds maintenance. He loved his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed outdoor activities, riding his bicycle, working on his tractor, and making life enjoyable for his family.

Survivors: his wife, Nancy Lou (Brown) Safley; children, Lee Safley (Suzanne), Wendy Turner (Stan), Chris Safley (Mary), Kerry Moser (Mark); grandchildren, Ken Safley, Erika Smith, Jana Safley, Caleb Safley, Alaina Wimberly, Katrina Safley, Jared Safley, Garrett Safley, Derek Turner, Bryn Taylor, Shayna Johnson, Joshua Safley, Cam Safley, Erin Hamilton, Jack Safley, Hannah Moser, and Peyton Moser; and 12 great-grandchildren.

His family held a private graveside service.
