Ignite Davie, a college promise program for Davie residents, will hold its community kickoff during halftime of the Davie High School football game this Friday.
It is also Davie Community Foundation Touchdowns for Education night. This year, Touchdowns for Education will support Ignmite Davie. Thirty-five Touchdown for Education team members will each add $100 every time a touchdown is scored by Davie High against A.L. Brown.
Individuals, organizations, and local governments have committed $1,174,000 of the $3 million needed to endow the program.
“This is a chance for all to seize an educational opportunity that can empower and propel themselves, their families and even their future generations forward into the 21st Century economy,” said Zach Wright, contributor.
Ignite Davie is a last dollar scholarship to pay tuition and fees to DCCC for residents of Davie County beginning with the Class of 2020.
“Ignite Davie puts education at the very center of our community and Davie County students will have the opportunity to continue their education beyond high school graduation, without incurring substantial student loan debt,” said Jane Simpson, Davie Community Foundation president.
Donations of all amounts are needed to secure Ignite Davie for future generations. Donations may be made: online at www.daviefoundation.org/donate; texting “IGNITE” to 243725; or by mail to the Davie Community Foundation with Ignite Davie in the memo to Ignite College Promise, Attn: Carolyn McManamy, 135 S.
