Joyce Scott Ritchie, 83, of Kannapolis died on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Tucker Hospice House.

She was born May 14, 1935 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Garland and Mae Utley Slawson.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert W. Scott and Wallace B. Ritchie, son, Timothy Scott and daughters, Dawn Scott Elwood and Gina Ritchie Hamilton.

She had been a franchise owner of H&R Block tax office and later co-owner of T&J Accounting. She was owner of J’Wally’s restaurant in Kannapolis along with her late husband, Wallace. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church where she was former choir member and was the financial secretary for the church for many years. She loved sewing, camping and spending time with her family.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Parkwood Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Michael Waters. Burial followed at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church.

Survivors: children, Danny Scott (Debbie),  Michelle Carothers (Mike), Bryan Ritchie (Mandy), Leigh Ann Ritchie Towell (Rick); son-in-law, Ronnie Elwood; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Slawson Adcock (David).
