Shirley Gwyn (Wood) Shepherd (Wood), 71, of Cooleemee, died on April 20, 2019 while under the care of the Glenn Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1948 in Surry County, a daughter to the late William C. Wood and Ada Viola Vanhoy. She attended and graduated from Davie High School in 1966 and later she married Lee Shepherd.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; her daughter, Pamela C. Jarvis Jordan; her brother, Glenn Wood; her sisters, Evelyn B. Money, Sarah “Peggy” Fletcher, Betty Head and Joan Garris.

She worked as an activity director in the healthcare industry. She was a faithful member of the Cooleemee Church of God.

Survivors: 3 grandchildren, Dustin, Daniel and Dakota Jordan, all of Cooleemee.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Davie Funeral Service Chapel at 416 Valley Road in Mocksville. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at the Cooleemee Church of God with Pastor Bruce Harry officiating. Burial will follow at the Legion Memorial Park Cemetery.
