The Davie County Board of Education selected Dr. William “Bill” Steed to lead the Davie County Schools as interim superintendent beginning on Jan. 1.

Steed, a former Davie County superintendent who also filled in as interim superintendent prior to the hiring of Dr. Darrin Hartness, brings years of experience along with his demonstrated commitment to the residents of Davie County.

“We feel lucky to have his steady and wise leadership as we move to the next chapter in our storied history,” said board chair, Clint Junker.

Steed will serve while the board conducts the search for the next superintendent. The board is actively engaging in community and staff input and will receive applications through Jan. 7, 2019. The selection of the next superintendent is scheduled to conclude near the end of April 2019.
