William ‘Brady’ Barbee Sr.

William “Brady” Barbee Sr., 94, of Woodleaf died on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
Born March 31, 1923, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Pearl Freeman Barbee and the widower of Velma Lucille Hamilton Barbee who died Dec. 1, 2013. Mr. Barbee was a graduate of Woodleaf School. He retired as an owner/operator in the heavy equipment industry and was a long-time member of The Arbor United Methodist Church on Woodleaf Road (formerly Gays Chapel UMC).
He was also preceded in death by his son, William Brady Barbee Jr.; a daughter, Judy Barbee; a brother, Lee Barbee, a sister, Irene Miller; and a son-in-law, Wayne Lingle.
Survivors: 2 daughters, Linda B. Walls (Michael) of Woodleaf and Gail B. Lingle of Hampstead; a daughter-in-law, Gale B. Barbee; 5 brothers, Fred, Frank, Ed and Donald Barbee, all of Woodleaf, and Martin Barbee of Salisbury; a sister, Catherine Gray of Woodleaf; 8 grandchildren, Frankie and Rickey Walls, Wendy Melchor, Jeremy and Jason Lingle, Cindy Seabolt, Jeff and Doug Crisco; plus 13 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service was conducted at 2 p.m.Monday, Nov. 27 at The Arbor UMC, officiated by Pastor Craig Sefa. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery where he was laid to rest beside his wife. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
