Mr. J. W. Keaton, 92, of Sheffield Road, Harmony, died Tuesday, Oct, 31, 2017, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
He was born May 12, 1925, in Forsyth County to the late John and Mary Rebecca Barney Keaton. Mr. Keaton loved to fish at the coast twice a year, gardening, canning and his many cats. He was a good cook and specialized in fried apple pies.\ Mr. Keaton enjoyed attending wrestling in Lexington, country music and watching NASCAR’s Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson.
He was also preceded in death by: 2 wives, Frances Binkley Keaton and Shelia Sprinkle Keaton; a son, Terry Lee Keaton; 3 sisters; 3 brothers; 2 granddaughters; and 3 stepgrandchildren.
Survivors: 6 children, Johnny Keaton (Hilda), Becky Hill (Lofton), Maxine Edwards (Lester), Jimmy Keaton (Juanita), all of Harmony, Barbara Gobble (Tommy) of Mocksville and Charlie Keaton (Sherry) of Harmony; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 3 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Billy Jarrett officiating. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at the funeral home. Burial followed in Liberty Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Harmony.
