Danny William ‘Dano’ Shepherd

Danny William “Dano” Shepherd, 63, of Cooleemee, died at Forsyth Medical Center Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017.

He was born in Iredell County Dec. 30, 1953, the son of the late Thomas Lee Shepherd and Peggy Christy Dill. He was the husband of Debbie Spry Shepherd.

After graduation from high school, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of aergeant. Prior to becoming disabled, he was a machine operator in the furniture industry. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of more than 45 years, he is survived by: a son, Kristopher Shepherd (Susan) of Mocksville; a daughter, Jenny Shepherd Jones (Mac) of Salisbury; his step-mother, Margie Shepherd of Statesville; a brother, Larry Shepherd of Statesville; a half-brother, Ricky Shepherd, and 2 half-sisters, Glenda and Patty, all of Statesville; and 7 grandchildren, Gabrielle, Kenzie, Mac, Kaylie, Bryce, Blain, and Lyla.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Jeffrey William Shepherd; a daughter, Cherith Shepherd Straney; and a brother, Donnie Shepherd.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Victory Baptist Church in Cooleemee. The celebration of life service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Shelby Harbour officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. A private burial will be at Salisbury National Cemetery.
