Mrs. Anne “Virginia” Bowman Peele, 84, of Yadkinville, died on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 at her home.

She was born Jan. 15, 1932 in Surry County to the late Johnny and Annie Flippin Bowman. Mrs. Peele was a member of Courtney Baptist Church where she was active with the choir and music ministry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,  homemaker, and was devoted to her family.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Franklin Peele on Jan. 24, 2012, and by 4 brothers and a sister.

Surviving: her children, Brenda (Joel) Whitaker, Garry (Kathy) Peele, Rebecca (Eddie) Gregory; grandchildren, Denise Holt, James Whitaker, Kayl “Kyle” Whitaker, Lindsey Reeves, Ashley Beal; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Monroe (Louise) Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Courtney Baptist Church. Her funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in Courtney Baptist Church by Dr. Richard Capps and the Rev. John Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
