Judith Carter ‘Judy’ Ashley

Mrs. Judith “Judy” Carter Ashley, 67, died at Somerset Court, Mocksville, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, after fighting lymphoma.
She was born Sept. 15, 1948 in Davie County to the late Zackey and Eva Whitaker Carter. She had worked at several places around Mocksville, including Drexel Furniture, Crown Wood and VF Jeanswear. Until her health no longer permitted, she was a frequent visitor to assisted living facilities, an active volunteer with Relay For Life and enjoyed spending lots of time at the Bobby H. Knight Senior Center, where she had many friends. She was a life time member of Dulin United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Monk Carter, Mary Nell Carter Lawrence and Peggy Carter Henderson; and a great-niece, Beth Lawrence-Gossett.
Survivors: her husband, Larry Ashley, whom she married May 31, 1969; sisters, Shirley Carter Cody and Betty Carter Poole (Bill); sisters-in-law, Jettie Carter and Glenda Lawrence; nieces, Angie Lawrence Lakey (Doug), Donna Lawrence and Wendy Cody Byerly; and nephews, Al Carter (Sandra), Mark Lawrence and Chris Henderson.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Jordan officiating. Burial followed in Dulin United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
