Jean Jeanette Berry Dalton

Jean Jeanette Berry Dalton died on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 in Orangeburg, S.C., where she had resided for about three years with her son and daughter-in-law.

She was born in Jamaica, N.Y. on Sept. 9, 1933, to the late Richard and Muriel B. Berry. She attended New York Public Schools and was employed in New York. On Sept. 30, 1962, she married Gordon Dalton. She later worked as a CNA at Trump Pavillion Nursing Home in Flushing, N.Y., from which she retired in 1992. After moving to Harmony, she was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church until her health failed. She loved to read and complete puzzles. She studied her Bible and did devotions daily. She loved to eat meals that her husband prepared.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, a son, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Survivors: her husband, Gordon M. Dalton of Harmony; 3 sons, Kevin Berry, Burnell Berry, and Allen (Cheryl) Dalton, all of South Carolina; a step-daughter, Teresa Dalton; 2 brothers; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service were to be held Thursday, Dec. 3 at noon at Graham Funeral Home in Mocksville. The  Rev. Tyrone Redmon was to officiate and burial was to follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hamptonville.
