Barbara Elaine Cheek “Sissy” Johnson, 60, of Stony Point, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Born May 11, 1955 in Herlong, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Bobby R. Cheek and the late Dorothy Anderson Cheek. She was a 1973 graduate of Davie High School and attended Mitchell Community College in Statesville. She was a teacher at Hope Child Development Center for seven years.

Survivors: her husband of 33 years, Bill Johnson; a brother, D. Ray Cheek (Monica) of Gastonia; 2 sisters, Pam Boger of Mocksville and Karen Johnson (Mark) of Statesville; brothers-in-law, Larry Johnson (Cathy) and Neal Johnson (Tina) of Statesville; her father- and mother-in-law, A.W. “Bill” Johnson (Ercelle) of Statesville; her pet companions, Dakota and Josey; plus a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Wayne Boger.

The family received friends Friday, Sept. 18 at Davie Funeral Service Chapel in Mocksville. A graveside celebration of life service was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19,at the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Pastor Mike Duncan, and the Revs. Ricky Anderson and J.B. Parker.
