Baxter Elmer Turner

Mr. Baxter Elmer Turner, 88, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born March 6, 1927 in Davie County to the late Atlas G. Turner and Ruby Martin Turner. He was a graduate of Catawba College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.  He served in the US Navy during World War II then later served in the US Air Force where he was a pilot until his retirement as a captain 50 years ago. He then was a real estate appraiser until his retirement.

Survivors: his wife, Beth McCray Turner; sons, Gregory Scott Turner of Houston, Texas and Simmons Leigh Park of Guadalajara, Mexico; daughters, Debbie Turner Phillips of Charlotte and Denise Turner McKenzie of Salisbury; grandchildren, Adriane Helms Morris of Salisbury, Meghan Turner Patterson of Charlotte, Christopher Douglas McKenzie of Raleigh, Alexi Nicole Turner of New York, N.Y. and Jennifer Marie O’Connell of Houston, Texas.

Services were at 10 a.m. Friday, May 8 at Summersett Memorial Chapel and burial followed at Salisbury National Cemetery with Military Honors.
