Janice Ratledge Kurfees

Janice Elizabeth Ratledge Kurfees, 86, of Mocksville died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville after a period of declining health. 

A native of Davie County, she was born Oct. 4, 1927 to the late William Ralph Ratledge and Laura Elizabeth Anderson Ratledge. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Adolphus C. Kurfees; 2 brothers, Clyde and John Lester Ratledge; and a sister, Charlie Mae Edwards. 

Survivors: 2 sons, Joel E. Kurfees of Mocksville and Randy C. Kurfees and wife Tina of Stoney Point; 2 grandsons, Travis C. Kurfees and Adam Heath Kurfees; s great-grandson, Waylon R. Kurfees; and s sister, Grace Ratledge Beck. 

A graveside celebration of life service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Naomi King. The family received friends at Davie Funeral Service Chapel from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday.
